Unfortunetly after we relocated to Prescott, Arizona, we had to stop these private cookouts.  But we are looking for a place here that we can start them up again.  If you have any ideas about where we would love to hear from you.  Until then, enjoy the pics and info of the past ones and hopefully will get them up and running again soon.

We started a new venture here at Western Range Catering.  Thursday night cookouts up on the Diamond Bar J Ranch.  The ranch sits on the west hills and over looks the whole upper Star Valley.  

We thought that having a dining choice where you could be outside, have a spectacular view, be able to enjoy a campfire, and to top it all off, have a wonderfully prepared meal would be a great experience and something special to enjoy.  Well I guess we were right.  We had a very generous turnout for our first one and the reviews we got were nothing short of spectacular.

We want to thank everyone that came and for all the very nice compliments we received.  We accomplished what we set out to do and everyone appreciated it.  So we are going to continue them for the rest of the season and start them earlier next year. 

We are going to keep the number of reservations small so no one feels crowded or rushed.  We want everyone that comes up to relax and have an enjoyable evening without the usual restaurant hustle and bustle.

The menus will be a wide range of foods, but most importantly everything is homemade and will reflect choices that are not usually offered in the valley. 

The menus will change each week and they will be all inclusive.  For the first one we did mesquite grilled ribeye steaks, baked beans, dutch oven potatoes, calabacitos (baby summer squash), chedder and chive biscuits.  We had smoked salmon, cream chesse spread with cheese and crackers for Hors D'oeuvres and we had apple pie bars with an roasted almond crust and chocolate raspberry and cream cheese brownies, all toped with fresh fruit and whipped cream.  Everyone loved the food and the compliments were a little overwhelming but very much appreciated.

We will post the dates and the menus here so you can come visit the site and see whats coming up here at the ranch.  You will also get to see some photos from the different cookouts and check our other sections for photos, blogs and new recipes to try.  So come up and experiece something special that we are sure you will enjoy and want to do again.  We want to be your favorite eatin' place.  And don't forget that we do catering so keep us in mind for your next get together.

 

Our next cookout is October 4th  at the Diamond Bar J Ranch.  Appetizers begin at 5:30.  The menu for the evening is;

Starters of tortilla chips with our award winning salsa
Mesquite smoked bbq brisket
Ranchero beans
Twice baked potatoes
Caesar salad
Corn bread muffins
Buttermilk chocolate cake with fudge icing
Lemonade

So bring your favorite evening beverage and come on up the hill for a wonderful evening.  There is a minimum reservation requirement and the cutoff is noon on Wednesday the 3rd.  Hope to hear from you.

We have been having a long streach of lets just say it, crappy weather, but we had been getting lots of calls for us to start our summer cookouts up here at the Diamond Bar J.  So Vicki sat down and looked at the weather forcast and picked a day, 10 days away.  Well lets just say that the weather Gods were on her side, because it was a beautiful day.  The only one in 30.  Had a fantastic turnout for the first cookout of the season.  We had some old friends come back and we had some new friends we meet in Arizona over the winter show up and one of Vickis class mates from Minnasota came with her husband and some friends.  Was just a beautiful evening.  The menu consisted of starters of Pan De Compo with jalapenos, onion and chedder, one with sun dried tomatoes and artichoke hearts with feta and red sweet peppers, red onion and swiss.  We had mesquite grilled ribeye steaks with kabobos of grape tomatoes, onion and mushrooms, scalloped potatos, buttermilk biscuit, spinach salad and 3 different pies to choose from, deep dish apple, peach/blueberry and blackberry.  No one went away hungry.  We had several people tell us it was the best steak they had ever had so were pretty sure we got that one right.  It was a great evening and there was lots of hanging at the camp fire to top the whole thing off.  Looking forward to the next one in a couple weeks so make sure you make reservations and don't miss out on the best dining experience in the valley.

Our next cookout is going to be September 15 .  We will serve from 5:30pm to 7:30pm.  Call  to make your reservations.  They are on a first come first serve basis.  You can also email us thru the contact us page or at:   remember there is only a limited number so don't procrastinate to long.  

The menu for this one is:

Smoked half rack of baby back pork ribs, twice baked potatoes, sweet and sour cabbage with corn bread.  The starters will be artichoke and spinich dip with cheese and crackers.  For dessert we will serve a banana cake with cream cheese frosting with a garnish.  Lemonade and iced tea are included.   

The cookout went very well.  We had one of the nicest evenings you could ask for.  The camp fire went pretty late with lots of good conversation.
